Phil Whiffin has worked in the automotive industry for 20 years, covering all aspects of product development from research projects through to vehicle launch. Phil has extensive experience in delivering complex, advanced vehicle systems in tight timescales. He led the team delivering the stop-start Freelander, which won the European Tata innovation and the Jaguar Land Rover Technology awards. He has been involved in sustainable mobility projects for some time and now leads the systems engineering of Hybrid projects at Jaguar Land Rover. His education includes a MBA from Warwick University and a masters in Automotive Engineering from Loughborough.

Phil Barker has been in the automotive industry for 19 years, predominantly in the field of vehicle and chassis engineering, but more recently, as Chief Engineer of Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technologies, in response to the increasing amount of consultancy work undertaken by Lotus Engineering in this field. His expertise lies in the vehicle integration and feasibility of electric and hybrid technologies into existing and all-new platforms. He also has experience in the creation of vehicle concepts using present and future technologies.

Dr. Lampérth is co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of EVO Electric Ltd (www.evo-electric.com) and Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. He studied at Winterthur Polytechnic and Imperial College (Phd Mechanical Engineering, 1999). Previous work engagements include industrial research and development at Kissling Ltd and an apprenticeship at MSW-Winterthur, both in Switzerland. Dr. Lampérth has numerous scientific publications in the field of mechatronics, including important work on electric machines, hybrid-electric vehicle drivetrains, and medical robotics. He co-founded EVO Electric in 2006 to commercialise advanced electric machine technology he helped develop at Imperial College.

In his previous role he was Product Planning Director at TRW with global responsibility for their £3 billion automotive steering business providing strategy guidance for their electric steering products.Nick has 13 years of automotive experience preceded by 23 years in Aerospace and Defence at British Aerospace and Lucas. As well as holding senior management positions in these corporations, Nick has been MD of EMM Computers, a technology start up company which exceeded $ 1 million turnover in its first year of operation.

Starting in 1997, he joined DSB Special Batteries/AEA Technology Battery Systems/AGM Batteries/ABSL Power Solutions as Business Development Manager. Dave is now responsible for the sales and marketing of new advanced high power and high specific energy Li-ion rechargeable cells developed by AGM batteries (a JV company with UK and Japanese partners). More recently Dave has been involved in the development of large battery systems for a variety of military and unmanned underwater vehicles, using ultra high power/energy Li-ion systems. Dave will present a short history of the development of advanced Li-ion battery technologies, and will show how the industry in general and ABSL/AGM Batteries in particular is planning to develop and introduce new products to meet the future needs (performance, cost and volumes) of the hybrid and electric vehicle industry.

Simon has over 10 years of management experience with OEMs in automotive industry including Ford Motor Co and Lexus. He has been involved with a number of operations including: Sales and Marketing: Brand Management, Dealer Operations, Customer Acquisition & Retention as well as Pricing & Incentives. Simon was aslo has gained expertise in Strategy Development and Implementation: Network & Distribution Strategy, Order Fulfilment, Constraints Management and Change Management.
