Marie-Barbe Girard is a senior associate in Transport for London’s Delivery Unit, a small team reporting directly to the Transport Commissioner and responsible for ensuring the organisation delivers the Mayor’s transport priorities.

Since joining TfL in 2007, Marie-Barbe has been actively involved in several strategic projects such as preparing for the periodic review of London Underground’s Public Private Partnership, developing policies to tackle social exclusion in London, and more recently investigating options for the roll-out of electric vehicles across London.

Prior to joining TfL, Marie-Barbe worked as deputy chief of staff to the French minister in charge of the civil service and led investigations at the Office of Fair Trading.

His roles within this industry have covered areas across the value chain from Managerial positions in Purchasing, Logistics, Manufacturing, Engineering, Product Planning, Marketing and Sales, along with Project Management and 6 Sigma Black Belt Management and deployment.

As the Automotive Sector Specialist Sean represents the Agency at National forum levels, notably the National Automotive Group (BIS), the Technology Strategy Board, ETI – Energy Technology Institute and leading trade associations in the UK SMMT (Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders), CEA (Construction Equipment Association).

Ian McDonald

With over 30 years Automotive experience spanning Leyland bus and truck division, Formula one and motorsport and most recently as Chief engineer – Electrical at Lotus engineering, a position he held for 9 years, Ian brings a wealth of knowledge to the group, with regarding on-board vehicle systems and technologies.

Based in Oslo for a period of 2 years working on the TH!NK E.V project, as well as contributing to other Hybrid and E.V projects including Ecotricity’s ‘Zero Carbonista’ sports car programme, Ian provides essential catalyzing skill sets, specialising in the integration of low carbon transport systems and linking those to the off-board charging and information networks.

In addition, Ian has been involved in the development of large scale power storage systems, to assist renewable integration and electricity grid support schemes.

Ian is responsible for technology development strategy with in Future Transport Systems, with respect to the provision of consultancy services specialising in gap-filling technologies around the adoption and implementation of a sustainable low-carbon transport infrastructure.

Elektromotive is the world’s leading provider of recharging stations for electric vehicles. The company’s main product is the Elektrobay, which can be installed at the kerbside or in multi-storey car parks.

Elektromotive works with governments and local authorities to provide Elektrobays and engineering consultancy services to help accelerate a shift towards emissions-free motoring. Founded in 2003, Elektromotive has grown very rapidly to become the clear leader in its field – no other company in the world is at such an advanced stage in the development and deployment of recharging stations for electric vehicles.

The simple-to-operate Elektrobay was first introduced in Westminster, London, in 2006, and by May 2009 nearly 100 units will be installed across the UK capital. A further 40 Elektrobay charging stations operate in cities and shopping centres around the UK. At present, the electricity supplied through all UK Elektrobays is provided to the consumer free-of-charge

Building on its success in the UK, Elektromotive is now seeing very significant growth in its export activity. The company is currently working with national and local governments in Sweden, The Netherlands, Germany and Ireland to roll-out the recharging infrastructures that will help accelerate the uptake of electric vehicles.

Elektromotive’s small team is based in Brighton, on the south east coast of England. Birthplace to company Managing Director, Calvey Taylor- Haw, Brighton is also home to suppliers of Elektrobay’s hardware and electronic components.

In February 2009, Elektromotive signed a memorandum of understanding with the Renault-Nissan Alliance to accelerate the installation of charging networks for electric vehicles in European cities. Both parties will study ways to promote the use of electric vehicles, and will share information on electric vehicle development and energy supply on a global scale.

For two consecutive years Elektromotive’s contribution to eco-friendly motoring has been acknowledged by The Green Fleet Awards. In 2007 and 2008 the company was presented the prize for ‘Industry Innovation.’

Stephen is Lead Analyst on electric vehicles at Delta Energy and Environment, an Edinburgh based research and consulting firm specialising in low carbon, customer-end technologies and markets. Delta’s core EV capability relates to a deep understanding of key market drivers: policy incentives & regulation, electric utility strategy, technology development and emerging business models.

Our primary offering in the EV field is to the European electricity sector, and we provide it with insight and analysis that enables it to better understand and exploit opportunities in emerging EV markets. To provide this, we develop and maintain dialogue with battery developers, infrastructure manufacturers, auto manufacturers and policy makers across the globe.

Neville Jackson is currently Group Technology Director at Ricardo plc, He is responsible for developing the future vision of powertrain and related vehicle technology at Ricardo and for the strategy, planning and execution of research and development. He is Chairman of the UK Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, a director of CENEX, the UK Centre of Excellence for Low Carbon Vehicles, a visiting Professor at the University of Brighton and a member of the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council Industry User Panel. He is also a member of the European Council for Automotive Research Programme Review Board and also held the position of Vice Chairman of the European Automotive Research Partners Association based in Brussels. His career has included 26 years at Ricardo focused on research and demonstration of a wide range of future prototype vehicles featuring advanced technologies.
