Despite the increasing capability of electric vehicles, their wide spread global use has been restricted due to range limitations. The lack of a comprehensive recharging infrastructure has been a pivotal challenge to the acceptance of electric vehicles to the mass market. Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure within Europe is poised for rapid growth by 2012 as technologies and electricity optimisation are harmonised. Government leadership and initiatives, including the recent announcement of £20M for low-carbon infrastructure by the UK government, have shown the great importance of these vehicles. Implementing these initiatives and charging infrastructures effectively, along with the latest in recharging technology advancements, will make the future transition to low-carbon vehicles a reality.

This conference will provide a premier setting for business representatives and engineers from around the world to network as well as share their own experiences and perspectives. Each panel session aims to critically analyse alternative solutions to the infrastructure challenge, tackle key issues to implementation and better understand how governments, automotive industries and researchers can collaborate to successfully make low carbon vehicles a competitive option in the marketplace.
